Fresh Concrete Slump Test

Concrete slump test for Fresh CONCRETE      WORKABILITY.             (IS-1199-1959)

Types of  Concrete Slump Test

1)  True Slump

2)  Zero Slump

3)  Collapsed Slump

4)  Shear Sump

1) True Slump:

True slump is the only slump that can be measured in the test taken between the top of the cone and top of the concrete after the cone removed.

2) Zero Slump : Zero Slump is addressed water cement ration is very low and dry concrete, generally these type of concrete we used on road construction.

3) Collapsed Slump: Collapsed slump is addressed water ratio is so high and concrete mix to wet.

4) Shear Slump: Shear slump indicated the top one side portion of the concrete slips sideways and the result is incomplete and concrete to be retested.

  • Slump cone (Height = 30 cm, Base dia = 20 cm, Top dia = 10 cm)
  • Tamping rod (Length = 60 cm, Dia = 16 mm)
Note : 1. Fill the cube with concrete in the mold in three layer and compact each layer 25 times          strokes with temping rod.

           2.  After filled the cube with concrete then clear the area around slump cone and the base plate.

           3.  Remove the slump cone slowly slowly.

Preparation of concrete cube Specimen :

For make these test specimen are should be taken concrete from same concrete used in the site or field and after filled the cube shell be removed from molds after 24 hrs. Then after put in water for check compression strength test for with in 28 days.
